These issues are due to EA's Origin In-Game overlay, but at this time Steam users cannot disable this feature due to the background nature of EA's Origin background process on their latest Steam releases. Many PC gamers are suffering from significant performance issues. Right now, Mass Effect 3's Steam version has mixed reviews, and for a good reason. Thankfully, this issue is easy to fix on Origin, but on Steam the fix has proved to be impossible to implement.
